EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2024: Vessels that meet the following criteria are required to be titled in Alabama:
- Any vessel constructed after December 31, 2023 (some exclusions apply).
- Any vessel for which Alabama is the state of principal use on or after January 1, 2024.
- Any vessel that is less than 18 feet in length is only titled if it is propelled by an engine of 75 horsepower of greater (includes: sailboats, paddleboats, and rowboats).
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2024: Customers must provide Alabama Registration numbers for vessel registrations being renewed in the Dekalb County Probate Office (ex. AL-1234-VR). Previous registration certificates or pictures of the numbers on the vessel will be sufficient.
As of Monday, February 9, 2015, the Probate Office of DeKalb County Alabama and the Probate Judge Ronnie Osborn will no longer perform marriage ceremonies for the public. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
